Sum Architecture

“We shape our building, thereafter they shape us.”

Space has an influence on being. Architecture can shape behaviors and the way people relate and feel within each environment.

These are the beliefs that underpin the SUM Architecture brand, a company dedicated to the design of spaces capable of touching different moods and influencing the way people act and interact.

Inspired by the Latin phrase of the French philosopher and mathematician René Descartes, “cogito, ergo sum”, known as “I think, therefore I am”, the name of the brand alludes to existence. Furthermore, in the arithmetic language SUM is the summation, without which architecture could not exist.

To exist and to add: deep meanings that embrace the essence of the office.
During the design of the brand, words also emerged to support the acronym SUM, strengthening the brand identity:

social . urban . mission.
sense . us . more.
shift . undo . move.
start . under . magic.
stay . under . magic.
stay . unload . move.
senser . usable . maker.
solve . unveil . move.

Logo

More than architectural aesthetics, people’s interaction with space is the primary element of SUM Architecture’s creative process.
We translate this interactivity in the logo by means of letters with different weights and sizes, making the symbol more dynamic.

The mobility of the printers, which adapt freely to the different sizes of pieces, adjusting the reading to vertical or horizontal, creates a fluid relationship between the brand and the spaces where it is applied.

It is the office’s own worldview translated into a modern and malleable visual identity.

The contrast of the yellow and black colors generates an impact, but gains comfort in the breath of the white color, which spreads generously in the materials, as if inviting the public to imagine new possibilities for those empty spaces.
